Looks like i've betrayed the french and gone all germanic...

Hello there, i'm Alex... some might know me, most won't. Anyways, unfortunately after great service and a 135000 miles my poor little pug' 106 'Roysten' has gone into retirement. So I was left in a position where I was looking for a new ride. My girlfriend Rhi made me write a top 10 list of cars I wanted and this was near the top. (didn't think I could afford to run a Lancia Delta for more than about 8 miles...) After enjoying many childhood summers in my Gran and Grandads 72' camper (with a built in kitchen and chessboard) I thought buying an old VeeDub would be a wise plan. A trip to Glos' , £500 and about 2 weeks of work later and I have 'Danzig' (named after the great man himself) A 1983 Mk1 golf C formel E, which had a 1.3 from a CL shoved into it. I've de-rustified, sprayed, filled, cleaned, repaired and posed at the top of the drive in him for 2 long weeks and he's now on the road. You'll probably see me around in him as I cover alot of miles, so if you see me give us a flash...
Oh yeah and i found out it used to be Gorey's ride... Bigtime.

Charzz,
Alex

Cheers, i'll try 'n' get to the end of the month meet. The cars going good, few problems with the carb and choke set up, runs a bit rough some time but otherwise its great.

If i had the cash it would have a nice set of gold 'n' black BBS rims on it, any cash I once had though will soon be gone. The bugger broke down in the COOP carpark this morning, the missfire turned into nofire :S  It's down at Shaws in cindy now awaiting an inspection...

its always idles ruff on cold, was set up on my emissions machine when warm, co and hc checked, all good, its just a ruff un, could always go back to the shite pierburg that was givin john loadsa jip! on the other hand it was probably the crack in his old block that was the trouble, r u goin to sort out the gash side? or r u just gonna drive it? your problems most defo were not with the carb! i spent fookin hours getting it to run and drive half decently!!!

what problems did u encounter exactly? out of interest.

I got it with the original pierburg-solex peice of crap on it. I'm guessing he probably had the sense to ebay the weber first. This carb' is full of gunk and I had to replace the choke arm on it, I think i'll be whacking a weber on there when i've got some moolah.

aww man! stiched!!.... ive got his missis golf 5 in for test next week, ill have a word and try and blag it for you man! that should have come with the car...if not for feck all else than it took me bleedin ages to set up, and when it was the car went much better!! johns so tight man! ffs!

nah, wouldnt be  any performance increase, could go the bike carb route, but cant beat a little weber for 1300 golfs;)

I've replaced all the vacuum tubes and been using carb cleaner. The car is going infinitely better now... well for now I suppose, till it dies again. I found the right weber for it, there about 180 squids brand new, might get one if I get many more problems. I've also got a sportex backbox on the way for it, that should annoy the neighbors. Razz Now i've just got to convince my mum and girlfriend that it's a good idea to spend £500 of my student loan on either some ATS cups or Lenso BSX's. Hell hath no wrath... you get the picture hahah
g

lol, fuck the education, get some cups on there!!

(ps - john sold the weber on ebay for £120!! so second hand value is high!!) and hes now chuggin aroud in a shitty old pug 205!! one sold out...one sold IN!
