Anything considered but looking for a cheap project or a dirt cheap on the road bug, so minters are way out of the question
will also look at up to 69bugs but definatly dont want bigger windows or vents on the rear qtrs and pref want sloping wings.
ive got some funds coming but it will be the lesser side of 700sheets so im not expecting a show and shine beast
cheers

Hello Dubpounders,
Just to let you know that my 1303, "Tirpitz" is currently for sale on eBay - ending next Tuesday 12th May.
So far it has 1 bid at the starting price of £600. I am just going to let the auction run and see what happens.
To my knowledge there is nothing wrong with it, apart from a broken speedo cable and a dodgy fuel gauge. Loads of welding was done last summer, so it should still be solid.
It was a hard decision to make, but 6 classic cars are more than a handful to keep running, so I think that eventually I will end up just keeping my "show cars".
I will still have my Passat, so I will not be completely without a VW. Hopefully I will still make some shows and meetings, so as to stay in touch.
Best regards,
Richard |

Hello Adam,
I did not really think that you would be interested in Tirpitz, as it is a 1303, not a more desirable sloping lamp model.
I have never sold any of my cars on eBay before, so it is a new experience. I now have 2 bids at £620, but I would imagine that if I get more bids it will be towards the end on Tuesday evening.
I am not expecting to get a lot for him, but the main saving will be made by not having to tax, insure or get him through a MOT again.
If I find that I am suffering from severe "air cooled withdrawal symptoms", I can always buy another one. From my experience with my other classics, I think that it is best to buy the very best car that you can afford. This is true with my Standard 10, which I bought for £1600 and I have not spent more than £100 in 3 years. It has sailed through 3 MOTs with no faults and should last for years. It has never been welded.
Hopefully I will see you all soon. Is there a meeting at the Air Balloon on Sunday 17th May?
Best regards,
Richard |

Richard my 1303 has a dodgy fuel gauge too. Is this a common fault? One minute it says the car is full then it drops to empty. Right pain.
Don't sell the bug, as Adz says sell the Passat, i'm sure there would be plenty of people on here interested. Dubpound seem to love them.
Saw another standard 10 drive down Shurdington the other week. look mint. Matt black with flames on the bonnet. |

Hello Graham (Egg),
If anyone on this forum wants my 1303 they will have to be quick. It is currently bid at £750 with no reserve and the auction ends at about 8:00 pm this evening.
Unless the eventual eBay buyer does the dirty on me, it will soon be gone!
It may not look as nice as your 1303 but it has always been very reliable. Hopefully someone will be pleased with it.
Is there a meeting at the Air Balloon this Sunday?
If so, please let me know and I will try to come along.
Best regards,
Richard
